Why zebrafish?Thoughts from studentsChris AndersonIf you are anything like me you are probably asking yourself many questions like, why am I doing this? I don’t care about the results because they are not going to affect my life. However this attitude towards experimenting on zebrafish is wrong. Experimenting on animals, like the zebrafish, is crucial to the development and future advancements in medicine and many other fields. Though you may be correct doing this exact experiment may not find the cure for AIDS or cancer. It will however, help familiarize yourself with the many techniques used in experimentation. Consider experiments like this the foundation for future testing. Learning how to screen for traits, getting familiar with one of genetics model organism and learning how and why to set up certain mating crosses are some examples of techniques used. Mastering these techniques will only help you in your future experimentations to save mankind! Good luck! Chris Anderson
